I can't believe I'm saying this, but 10 years ago, UKCSGO ran the first UKCSGO County Champs. I know... TEN years! In that time, we’ve run several successful events, but nowhere near as many as we should have. A lot of people ask why and when it will return again. So, let's answer these questions.

Why?

Great question! The main reason was time. It took a HUGE amount of time to set up, organize, and run a County Champs tournament. From spreading the word, picking captains, vetting players, explaining where county borders are, gerrymandering other borders so smaller counties had a larger player pool, working out a format that maximizes the number of games teams would play, setting up servers, arranging casters, finding sponsors, and building assets—these are just a handful of things that needed to be done before games even started.

The other reason was that we never really had a permanent home for the event. Using Google Forms was always a nightmare to keep tidy and to collate all the information required. We did create a micro-site for the County Champs one year, and it was meant to be a work-in-progress for future years, but development was never finished, so it was put to one side. However, now we have this new and improved site that will act as the County Champs’ main portal, one we can build on year after year.

When?

Even better question...the answer is THIS YEAR!

We have a few things to work out, and we need to finish this site, but the birth of this micro-site marks the start of a more regular County Champs. We have also made space in our Community Discord for the County Champs where you can ask questions or raise a ticket to get help or report any bugs you might find.

So spread the word, get signed up and start making teams! Once we start to get a bit of traction of sign ups we will release more information on how this season will play out.
