What is the County Champs?

So in my haste to get this site up and running, it slipped my mind that there would be a lot of people may have no idea what the County Champs is or how it works!

This oversight has caused a lot of questions to arise so hopefully this article will put most of them to bed!

What is the County Champs

The County Champs dates way way way back to the days of Counter-Strike Source. It was run on the now-defunk website, Enemy Down, which was the heart and soul of the Counter-Strike Source scene.

The tournament features teams made up of players from UK and Ireland counties. This causes teams to have a wider skill of players and help share knowledge and experience between them, hopefully helping to progress the scene and find some hidden talent along the way.

This is the defonition of a fun, communtiy tournament, but that doesn't mean we won't be working hard to put a bit of a prize pool together. Historically this has been around £500, but there is no "set number" we aim for due to the nature of the tournament.

Fear not! We've expanded the UKCSGO Community Discord to accomodate the County Champs. There is now a second in there for general discussion or raising a ticket to get information, help or report a bug with this website.

When will it all kick off?

Due to how the County Champs is setup it takes a little bit to get going. Each season is split into five steps.

1. We announce the tournament, start gathering signups. Teams start to be created and word spreads around.

2. To maximise the number of people that take part will then look at low-population counties and combine them with other counties to help complete a few more teams.

3. Next we will solidify a start date for the tournament and start rolling out the schedule. Because this is a fun tournament, the schedule is not set in stone. Obviously ESEA, UKIC and other games are far more important and should take presidence over County Champs games.

4. We will finalise and announce what tournament platform we will be using for the event, and open up signups on there for you to create your teams.

5. We're off to the races! Games start, we all have fun and we find out who's going to claim the County Champs crown!
